Calvert Soccer Assn

Recreation Program

What: Recreational program (U5 - HS age groups) is geared towards introducing the game of soccer and helping players develop their skills in a safe and fun environment. The program is run by Adult Volunteer Coaches and Assistant Coaches. There are typically one to two practices a week depending on age group and competition style matches on weekends (Weather Permitting).

U5/U6 is a combined coed division in the Fall Rec Program. In the spring, the U5 & U6 division will be split up. U5 will be all coed only, U6 will have a Girls & Coed division. U5 age group has an academy style practice and festival games only (U5/U6 in Fall Rec Program).

U7 & U8 will also attend a weekly academy session along with one team practice.

Please see U5/U6 Junior Academy and U7/U8 Rec Academy pages for more information.

*CSA FALL Recreational Program does not support age groups U9 - HS (birth years 2011 - 2001). CCPR runs the Fall program for those age groups.

When: Players will meet for practice(s) during the week based on availability of coaches and assistants. You will be contacted by your player's coach or a league representative at least a week prior to the regular season beginning for your player's practice location/day(s)/time. Coaches will inform team of game schedule once released. Games are usually held on Saturdays and/or Sunday afternoons (weather permitting).

Where: Groups/Teams are formed North, Central, and South depending on availability of fields, coaches, and registered players.

How often: Typically, six to ten weeks (weather permitting). Fall Program begins in mid August and ends by the beginning of November. Spring Program begins in mid March and ends the beginning of June. Only the spring season is followed by the Recreational "Calvert Cup" tournament.

What you need to bring: At practices, the player will need to wear athletic attire, shin guards, athletic footwear (cleats are not required but strongly encouraged), soccer ball, and plenty of water.
