Calvert Soccer Association

FAQ

CSA Travel Soccer program’s mission is to promote a positive competitive soccer culture in Calvert County.  To challenge every youth soccer player to demand excellence of themselves, advance technical and athletic development and compete with sportsmanship at the highest level.

1.  Why should I consider travel soccer for my player?

Travel Soccer is a unique opportunity for a player to receive advanced coaching, experience and competition.   Travel teams train year round, seek to   provide progressive individual and team development and challenge each player to advance his/her game.   For the dedicated soccer player that aspires to play at the high school level and beyond, travel soccer experience is vital.

2.  Why should I choose CSA over other county soccer programs?

Calvert Soccer Association (CSA) is the only soccer program that holds Calvert County based charters.   We have been established since 1984 and have demonstrated player-centered  community based programming.   CSA works diligently to keep fees low to allow reasonable access to travel soccer.    Our coaches have advanced licenses and bring years of expertise to the field. Finally, CSA has long standing relationships with DC United, Coever, Challenger British Training Camps, Exceed Soccer, Gretton Goal Keeping, MSYSA,  Adidas and other soccer partners to enrich every players soccer experience.

 3.  What leagues does CSA participate in?   Where are the games  played?

CSA active charters includes the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), Washington Girls Soccer League (WAGS), Baltimore Beltway Soccer League (BBSL) and  the Central Maryland Select Soccer League (CMSSL).

Most schedules average four home games, four away.   Your away games are located within your league boundaries.

4.  How expensive is it to participate in travel soccer?

Travel soccer costs are determined by league fees, MSYSA fees, CSA fees and any team fees.   Some teams have paid trainers (costs vary).   Most travel teams attend tournaments locally and away with the cost divided among all players.

 5.  When can a player join?   When are try-outs?

CSA club-wide travel try-outs will be held each year the first and second week in June.    The travel team roster is developed for fall and spring season with player changes as needed.   Many travel teams with open roster slots, though, allow mid-season try-outs, so contact travel coaches directly at other times of the year.
