COACH SELECTION

RecPlus coaches are experienced coaches with above average qualifications and must hold at least an USSF "E" license or equivalent.  The RecPlus commissioner will perform the coaching selection before tryouts each season.

PLAYER EVALUATIONS (TRYOUTS)

We will hold player evaluations to determine player placement, prior to the rec season. These evaluations will determine which players are eligible for the RecPlus division.  The coaches that have been selected for the upcoming season will assist in the evaluation of each player. A supplemental evaluation may be hel prior to the spring season to fill roster slots created by departing players. Normally, RecPlus teams remain together for both the fall and spring seasons. Players selected for the fall season need not attend tryouts for the spring season.

PLAYER PLACEMENT/TEAM FORMATION

Players will be placed on teams through a modified draft procedure.  Every player will be considered part of the draft.  Pre-formed teams considering the RecPlus league will not be permitted entry since this is contrary to our open draft and team equalizing process.  Pre-formed teams are encouraged to join our CSA travel organization instead. Final team formations will be approved by the RecPlus Commissioner.

Please note: ALL teams will practice in the Central practice area(Hallowing Point, Plum Point, Calvert Middle, ...).  Consideration will be made to help address car pooling but are not guaranteed.  Rosters will be an average of 12 players with a maximum of 14. U8 will have 9-11 players.

GAMES

We expect 2/3 of your games to be played at home (Calvert County, typically central location) and the remaining in St. Mary's (typically Chancellor's Run Regional Park, Lexington Park) and/or Charles county.  Games will typically be held on Saturdays.  Every player must play 1/2 of a game.  Teams will play 8v8 soccer, including goalies, on a ~210' field.  U8-U10 play 25 min halves,  U12 play 30 min halves, U14 play 35 minute halves.  A size 4 soccer ball will be used (U14-size 5).  Offside rule applies and slide tackling is not allowed.  U8 will play a 7 v 7 format, using a smaller field.

RULES

CSA RecPlus uses the bylaws set forth by St. Mary's Youth Soccer as defined on their website as guidance with the following modifications:
  • Participation of Travel Players
    • A RecPlus player may be invited to one travel tournament per season as an uncarded guest player.  The RecPlus coach must be contacted before the player is approached.  The RecPlus coach can deny the request if it conflicts with a RecPlus event.
    •  Any player found to be in violation of these rules will be suspended from RecPlus play for the remainder of the season.
